10 A pair of Shoes

This is a "conversation at a shoe store" between a customer (Friend 1), his companion (Friend 2) and a Shopkeeper.


* Take roles alternatively and practise the conversation.




Friend 1                   :    Hi !
Friend 2                   :    These shoes are lovely ! Can I see them ?
Shopkeeper             :    Which ones do you like ?
Friend 2                   :    That black pair looks real cool !
Friend 1                   :    Amm....The black ones.
Shopkeeper             :    The black ones..They are quite lovely...imported from Italy.
Friend 1                   :    I've been to Italy, how much are they ?
Shopkeeper             :    These shoes are 80 dollars.
Friend 1                   :    80 dollars ? That's so expensive!
Shopkeeper             :    Not so expensive…only 40 dollars for one shoe.
Friend 1                   :    Do you have another pair of black shoes?
Shopkeeper             :    This pair is only 20 dollars.
Friend 1                   :    Why are these shoes so much cheaper?
Shopkeeper             :    Because they are made here.
Friend 1                   :    Made here? What about the quality?
Shopkeeper             :    The quality is very good....These shoes will last a long time.
Friend 1                   :    How about 15 dollars for the pair ?
Shopkeeper             :    Oh.. I am sorry not enough....18.
Friend 1                   :    I'll give you 16.
Shopkeeper             :    Okay, for you special price...16 dollars....Would you like a bag ?
Friend 1                   :    No, that's okay. Thanks anyway. I'll..I'll wear them.

01 Making a Phone call

Now lets learn how to converse through phone.

This is a typical conversation between 2 friends:



Albert   : Hello.
Bob      : Good Morning. Is Albert there?

Albert   : This is Al.
Bob      : Al, This is Bob. What are you doing?

Albert   : Bob, I'm Sleeping. What time is it?
Bob      :Its 8 AM Time to rise and shine.

Albert   : 8 AM? Aahh! Oh No! I'll be late for work.
Bob      : No, No.. No.. Today is Saturday. You do not have to work today.

Albert   : Aah! Saturday! Thats right, No work today! Sounds good!
Bob      : Hey! Are you free today?

Albert   : Ah! Today is Saturday, Yeah I'm free.
Bob      : Would you like to do something together today?

Albert   : That sounds good! What do you want to do?
Bob      : I don't Know. What do you want to do?

Albert   : I don't know Either. why don't you come to my house and we'll think of something.
Bob      : Ok, I'll be there in about an hour.

Albert   : Ok, see you later.
Bob      : See you Al.
